Cahokia Mounds :: State Historical Site
Cahokia Mounds, one of 20 World Heritages sites in North America, is all that remains of the largest prehistoric Indian community north of Mexico. From A.D. 800 to about 1350, people known as the Mississippians flourished here…and then their world somehow unraveled. Gradually the city was abandoned. What happened?
Schwartz and Associates, winner of a competitive grant, is creating a series of multimedia tours that will tell Cahokia’s story. The underlying goal is better accommodate the tens of thousands of visitors and at the same time enhance learning opportunities. The program will have three components:
- three complementary multimedia iPod Touch Trail tours designed to facilitate a deeper connection to the grounds, in particular
- an interactive iPod Touch tour of the Interpretive Center
- a series of online multimedia enhanced activities and lesson plans correlated with
state and national standards.
